WebCapTel Guide

Effortless communication just got even more…effortless. This web-based service allows individuals who can speak, but have difficulty hearing, to read word-for-word captions on their computer screen. No special equipment is needed and benefits include:

  • 24/7 availability
  • Free domestic long-distance calling
  • Absolutely nothing to download and install—everything is done while online
  • The user (if they have any residual hearing) hears the person speaking through the telephone; not through the internet
  • Runs equally well on PCs and Macs
  • There is no charge to use the WebCapTel service (unless you use a wireless phone that does not have unlimited incoming minutes)

Communication freedom that lets you relax.

  • Internet connection (Dial-up, DSL, Cable, T1, etc.)
  • Internet browser (Internet Explorer version 7, Firefox 2.0, Safari 3.0, Opera 9.25) pointed to www.sprintcaptel.com,
  • Laptop or desktop computer
  • Cell, desk, cordless or amplified phone that can receive calls

Making a call

After logging into www.sprintcaptel.com, you will be at the “Place Call” screen. It will ask for two phone numbers: 1)“My Telephone Number” for the telephone you will be listening on and speaking through, and 2)“Number to Dial” for the person you are calling.

Receiving a call

After logging into www.sprintcaptel.com, you will be at the “Place Call” screen. Click on the “Incoming calls “tab. Input the phone number of the telephone you will receive calls on. Have your callers dial 1-800-933-7219. After dialing 1-800-933-7219, the caller will be prompted to enter the 10 digit number of the person they are calling and then press pound.
