Never miss a word again on the phone – Captioned Telephone (CapTel®) Service makes it possible. You’re automatically connected to the captioning service the moment you dial. Spoken words are then captured and displayed as text on your CapTel® phone.

Expecting a call? Not a problem. Calls placed to you work the same way - the person calling just needs to dial a toll-free number first in order for you to read captions.

What you need
  • A CapTel® telephone (Model 200)
  • A telephone line.
How does it work?
  1. The Captioned Telephone user speaks directly to the other party on the telephone.
  2. The other party speaks directly to the Captioned Telephone user.
  3. The Sprint Captioned Telephone operator transcribes the other party’s spoken message into text (captions) using voice-recognition technology.
  4. The Captioned Telephone user listens to the other party on the telephone while reading captions of the conversation on a display screen.

With 2-Line CapTel®, you can get captions anytime, on any call! 2-Line CapTel® requires two telephone lines. The benefits of 2-Line CapTel® include:

  • Receive captions on all incoming calls, not just those made through the CapTel® toll-free number. Callers only have to remember one telephone—yours
  • You can turn captions on (or off) at any point in the conversation. With traditional CapTel®, you can’t turn on captions during a telephone conversation.
  • Get captions for every type of call, including emergency calls. (1-Line CapTel® calls placed to 911 will connect directly to Emergency 911 Services).
  • Simple to set up and you are ready to go!
What you need
  • A CapTel® telephone (Model 200)
  • Two analog telephone lines with separate telephone numbers. The second line cannot be an extension line.
