If you struggle to hear on the phone and/or prefer to watch television with the closed captions on, then Sprint CapTel will help you use the telephone with confidence! Individuals with hearing loss can be sure of what their callers say – on every call – with Sprint’s Captioned Telephone Service. Captions appear virtually at the same time as the person speaks, allowing callers to enjoy the natural flow of an interactive telephone conversation.
How CapTel Works
When you dial a phone number, the CapTel phone automatically connects to a captioning service where a specially trained operator, who uses voice recognition technology to transcribe everything your caller says, is standing by. When the party you are calling answers, you, with your residual hearing, will hear everything they say while at the same time the captioning service transcribes everything they say into captions, which appear on the CapTel display window. You hear what you can, and read what you need to.

The CapTel 800 works with a standard analog telephone line(s). Both the captions and the voice parts of the conversation are carried over the telephone line. |

The CapTel 800i is designed for people who have high-speed Internet access. It uses an analog or digital telephone service and an Internet connection to provide voice and captions during a call. The voice/audio part of the call is delivered over the telephone line, while the captions are delivered via the Internet connection. |

Sprint WebCapTel® is a free, web-based service for users to read word-for-word captions on a computer monitor or a laptop. The user can listen to the other person speaking through any telephone, including wireless phones, cell phones or landline phones. The best part is that there is NO special equipment required! While the service is free, users must register to use the service.
